The flower market in Shoreditch is worth rolling out of bed early on Sunday mornings. It’s best to get there when they open at 8am because the street is narrow and can get quite claustrophobic later on. Walking through market is like taking a step back in time hundreds of years to the 19th when the market began. The market is very lively with the stall sellers yelling out prices and witty comments in sing-song Cockney slang to get people’s attention, bands playing, and people heading for a bite to eat to the many cafe’s on Columbia road. We were very impressed with the vibrant colors of cut flowers, the array of succulents, bedding plants, and herbs as we walked by the stalls. It would be hard for anyone to leave without buying anything.

The market was only a few blocks from our Airbnb apartment so we went many times with the pup. We got really lucky with the place we stayed at. I negotiated a great deal and Shoreditch turned out to be our favorite area in London. We originally booked the place for two months but ended up booking two extra months because we loved it so much. Shoreditch is known as the hipster area of London and is filled with a younger crowd with amazing restaurants and bars. The flower market and Shoreditch should definitely be added to your bucket list!
